I'm a "Pilot" (Captain in one more year) at the Delaware Aerospace Academy, and before then was a cadet, so altogether I've been there about 13 years. It just got its first facility built on its new grounds (Innovation Technology Exploration Center) after moving from school to school for 16 years. My boss made a special storytelling section in the back of the Environmental Outpost and asked me if I would paint a mural for her on the cinderblock foundation to make it more cheery.
Since its halfway down the state near my boyfriends house I put him to work helping me and taught him how to do sponge painting and some simple shading to get the work done faster since we've been having a heat wav. All in all I think it turned out pretty good, though I didn't get to do all the details I wanted to because of time.
This might be the real kickoff of my art business, I've already got a request from another Commander at the Academy asking me to do a mural for her school. Plus, my boss decided she wants me to expand on this mural over to the next wall! |
