This was done for a competition on Fanart Central a few months back, which I lost :(
I had to design the front page of a comic created by Soiny_Rose. The story was that two of Balto's kids (Rocky and Aurora) were stolen when they were very young but managed to escape their captors but grow up without knowing who their parents were.
I also had to come up with my own character, and that's Jed the jack russel terrier, based on my next door neighbour's dog, Jenny.
